Legendary Personalities

Class Of 2002

They began in Nebraska and went on to make a name for themselves in the "Big Time"

Since his days with Sweet 98, John Ivey has forged a path to radio success.   Stations like WXKS Boston have been home for Ivey during his career.  These days you'll find Ivey behind the scenes, enjoying the sunny weather of California.  John is  Program Director for Clear Channel's  KIIS-FM and Star 98.7 in Los Angeles.

Jim Morgan Sample

Jim Morgan Sample came to Omaha from Cocoa Beach, Florida.  After his time on the local airwaves (At KOIL and WOW) Morgan’s projects included building a home studio.  He offered jingle and programming services, recording records (Monument label) and imaging work (including the "voice" of  KMTV - 3) .  Sample went on to work for Satellite Music Net in Mokena, Illinois.

In the school of radio experience Omaha was the High School to Chicago’s College of radio known as WLS.  Many Omaha jocks graduated to the windy city.  “Johnny Mitchell” made the same move after his KOIL days.  As Kris Erik Stevens he would become one of Billboard Magazine's Air personalities of the Year.   After several high profile radio jobs ( WCFL,  CKLW,  KIIS)  Kris started his own Voice Talent & Production company.    Stevens is the innovator of "movie tunes" heard in your local AMC theatres.

Gene Taylor

If anybody understood the rapport between Jocks and the "Front Office" it was Gene Taylor.  Leaving Omaha as a jock, Taylor would round out his career as a Program Director then General Manager at WLS.   He brought  fresh up and coming talent to WLS with names like Larry Lujack.  His career became full circle when he returned to Omaha as morning news anchor for 1180 KKAR.

To most, Dave Webber is a Television Personality.  Before becoming a household name on WOWT TV, Webber enjoyed success at KFAB and the legendary KBON radio.  During the 2001 Football season, he was part of the Husker Football broadcast team for Pinnacle Sports Network.  In recent years Dave has also become recognized as a national spokesman for Physician's Mutual.
