Membership in the Nebraska Radio Personalities Hall
of Fame is open to those who have (a) spent at least a considerable amount
of their radio career in Nebraska and have
(b) made some significant contribution to the betterment of the medium
through their talent, creativity or what they came to mean to their community
through their position in radio. CATEGORIES There are three major divisions in the Nebraska
Radio Personalities Hall of Fame: PERSONALITIES HALL OF FAME
(elected category)
An annual vote determines the inductees who are nominated and receive a majority vote. ANNUAL INDUCTEES: Maximum of 10
This is a group of broadcasters who are primarily known
for their work elsewhere, yet spent a part of their career in Nebraska radio.
We have an unbelievable wealth of national heroes who have traveled
through Nebraska in their careers. This
category recognizes those who may have worked briefly in Nebraska or hailed from
Nebraska, but made their mark elsewhere. An
annual vote determines the inductees who are nominated and receive a majority
vote. ANNUAL INDUCTEES:
Maximum of 5
LOCAL HEROES, SIDEKICKS, AND
MENTORS (nominated-only category) This is a special, nominations-only category.
Regional radio 'legends' -- the news guy who has been at the same station
for 80 years, or the staff announcer who rose through the ranks to become an
owner. Perhaps the announcer who
didn’t get the main credit but, you know, worked just as hard as the Big Guy.
This category also includes mentors who may have taught you much of what
you know about radio or otherwise impressed you.
All nominations must include at least a brief paragraph describing that
person’s contributions to radio. This
information will be included on the web site.

ANNUAL INDUCTEES: To be
determined by the Board of Directors. NOMINATIONS AND VOTING The inductees into the Hall will be nominated in the following methods: 1. Use the Nomination Form page to submit your entries. 2. Send an e-mail to vote2005@nebraskaradio.org 3. Write to the Hall of Fame at PO Box 5501 Grand Island, NE 68802-5501 Nominations and voting for inductees into the Nebraska
Radio Personalities Hall of Fame is open to anyone who, past or present, has
had a connection as an employee or a fan of Nebraska radio. Each nomination must include your full name (air
name acceptable), the name or names of up to three people you are nominating,
and for each person nominated, a brief paragraph describing that person’s
contributions to radio as outlined above. No more than one submission from any
e-mail or snailmail address please. Multiple entries from the same address will
be disqualified. As a general rule of thumb, any nominee should
either be a) retired, or b) a veteran of at least 10 years as a radio
personality. Nominees for voting
categories must a) receive at least
2 nominations, b) meet the criteria, and c) be subject to screening by the Board of Directors in an effort to maintain a credible list. For the “Hall of Fame” and “Legendary
Personalities” categories, it will be the sole decision of the Board of
Directors of the Hall of Fame if any particular nominee should advance to the
final voting stage, based on the information you provide, as well as the number
of nominations received for each candidate. No candidate will be considered
without receiving at least two nominations from independent submissions.
For the “Local Heroes, Sidekicks, and Mentors” category, there will
be no voting. Nominating paragraphs
will be directly posted onto the web site.
In all cases, nominations may be edited by the Board of Directors. The nominations will be posted on this site at the
end of each nomination period. Voting
will commence on November 28th, 2005, and will remain open for thirty days.
The Board of Directors of the Hall of Fame will tabulate the votes received for
any accepted nominee. The top vote-getters will be thus elected to the Nebraska Radio Personalities Hall of Fame. Nominations close November 18th, 2005 at 11:59:59pm Central Time
